Psalm 4:8
As the day comes to an end, we are invited to place ourselves in God's loving hands. A bedtime prayer is an opportunity to thank Him for the blessings of the day, ask forgiveness for our sins, pray for those we love, and entrust ourselves to His protection throughout the night.
No matter what the day has brought—joys, struggles, victories, or disappointments—God remains faithful. As we prepare for sleep, we can rest peacefully knowing that He watches over us with unfailing love.
"In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." — Psalm 4:8
Ending the day with prayer helps us place our hearts in God's hands before we rest. It is a time to thank Him for the blessings of the day, seek His forgiveness for our sins, and entrust ourselves and our loved ones to His loving care. Bedtime prayer reminds us that God's presence never leaves us, even as we sleep, and invites us to rest in the peace that only He can give.
Heavenly Father,
As this day comes to a close, I thank You for every blessing You have given me. Thank You for Your love, Your mercy, and Your constant presence in my life.
Forgive me for the times I have sinned in thought, word, or deed. Purify my heart, strengthen my faith, and help me to love You and my neighbor more each day.
Bless my family, my friends, and all those who are suffering tonight. Comfort the lonely, heal the sick, protect those in danger, and grant eternal rest to the faithful departed.
Send Your holy angels to guard me as I sleep. Keep me safe through the night and awaken me tomorrow with renewed strength to know, love, and serve You more faithfully.
Into Your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Each evening offers us the opportunity to pause and look back on the day with gratitude. We can rejoice in the moments we experienced God's grace, ask His mercy for the times we fell short, and place tomorrow into His hands with confidence. As you close your eyes tonight, remember that the Lord watches over you with unfailing love. Rest in His peace, knowing that His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness endures forever.
